U13 GFA Premiership : KPFC 2-1 Knocknacarra

A hard fought victory this evening that stemmed from 100% commitment and effort from the boys on a blustery evening in Kiltullagh. Cathal Duffy captained the team today for the much needed points. The first half was tough physical football punctuated by 3 opportunist goals . Fortunately KPFC were ahead going into second half facing up the hill. Knocknacarra threw everything at us. Cormac (our goalie) played outfield and was so tired he had to go back in goal half way through second half. It was “Park the Bus” football with 20 minutes to go as injuries (JOB had to come off injured) and fatigue took its toll. Knocknacarra hit the post and had numerous chances cleared away by our committed defense. But these lads never give up.

50’ Tom Daly 52’ Oisin Coyne 60’ Cathal Duffy.       Kiltullagh picked up our first 3 points in the U14 Coley Smith Premier League with an emphatic victory away from home.   The lads were buoyed by our recent win in Athenry and started with confidence.   First 10 minutes had both teams with goalmouth action. Tom had a shot on 8’ and James made a good save on 9’. Kiltullagh piled on the pressure with headers from Tom 12’ and Oisin 15’. Oisin hit crossbar from a free on 22’. Our defense ofJames Cannon,Sean Muldoon,Michael Walsh,Jack OBrien,Sean Mulry were impenetrable with any attack from Colga snuffed out quickly.   James had another fine save on 34’. Our midfield of Oscar OGorman, Oisin Coyne, Danny Keane, Dara McGillicuddy controlled the midfield with excellent tackling and passing.   Cathal and Tom proved a constant threat to the Colga goal.
