GFA U13 Premier League

Cregmore / Claregalway 1 - 2 Kiltullagh Pioneers (Oscar O’Gorman, Tom Daly) The 13s played in Baltic conditions in Cregmore this afternoon and came away with a hard fought win over a dogged Cregmore side.   It was almost a classic game of two halves because of the “beast of the east” blowing hard down the pitch, but the Pioneers probably just about deserved their narrow win.   Playing with the wind in the first half we had multiple chances with Tom Daly, Oscar O’Gorman, Jack Earls and Danny Keane all coming close from shots, crosses and headers, while the Cregmore ‘keeper was sound in all situations and the hosts defended very well.   The breakthrough came right on the stroke of half time from a counter attack, after a Cregmore short free went astray, Tom went on an excellent run down the left and having arrived in the box, found Oscar who scored brilliantly high into the net.   Michael Walsh was outstanding in defence early in the second half and while w...

U15 Kiltullagh v Oranmore

Kiltullagh U15s travelled to Oranmore to play their B team in the league today. After such a long break due to the poor weather it was going to be hard for the lads to hit the ground running. We started knocking around the ball well but were not getting the break through and we were thinking if it was going to be one of those days. But up stepped Ronan Brett on 30 minutes with a fine run from midfield and finish in the bottom corner. This relaxed the lads and on the stroke of half time Michael Hardiman headed in our second goal. Michael Hardiman was up front with Rowan Lane today as Jordan McMahon has now joined Galway United u15 league of Ireland team and we all wish him well. The second half went very well for us with Michael Hardiman, Rowan Lane and fine individual goal from Conor O Higgins gave us the win we needed. Well done to the whole squad who all got good game time. Today's squad was Adam Davey, Ronan Maher, Adam Johnson, Lewis Dolan (captain) Luke Ray, Ethan Lally, Eoin...

U13 SFAI Skechers Cup Connaught Semi-Final

Kiltullagh Pioneers 1 - 3 Mervue Utd (Oisin Coyne) Our U13s went down fighting this morning to the Premier league leaders and unbeaten Mervue team in the Connaught semi-final on a heavy pitch in Castle Park. We held our own in the first half and even took the lead when a parried Jack O'Brien free kick was tucked away brilliantly by Oisin Coyne in the 21st minute. We had had a couple of chances before that as well, with shots from Pierce McGurk and Jamie McDonagh, while Danny Keane went on a brilliant run and cross on 17'. The warning signs were there as well as the visitors hit the cross bar on 18' and Cormac Cooney had to save brilliantly on 24' with JOB's last ditch tackle just after saving us on that occasion. Mervue scored an equaliser on 25' and the Pioneers rode their luck a couple of times before half time, but went in at the break 1-1. It had been an outstanding defensive effort with Sean Muldoon, Michael Walsh and Oscar O'Gorman rock s...
